Apple Notes, anywhere you aren't holding an iPhone.

Apple Notes can sync through Gmail instead of iCloud — one of several non-Apple backends it supports. If that's how you've set yours up (often exactly to get your notes on Windows too), Jodd reads and writes those same messages: what you jot on your Mac shows up on your PC, editable, searchable, foldered.

It's been an email the whole time

Apple Notes defaults to iCloud, but it'll happily sync through Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, or any IMAP account instead — that's Apple's own feature, not a trick of ours. Pick Gmail specifically and turn on its Notes toggle, and Apple starts writing every note as a hidden email message, filed under a Notes label. Jodd is the other half of that — and only that half: it can't see notes that live in iCloud or another provider.

You jot something in Apple Notes, on your iPhone or Mac.
Apple writes it to Gmail as a message under the Notes label.
Jodd reads that label and shows it to you as a note, on Windows.
You edit it in Jodd same title, same body, same folder.
Apple Notes sees the edit next time your iPhone or Mac syncs.

What Jodd can see

Jodd only ever touches the one label your notes live in. Nothing else in your mailbox exists, as far as the app is concerned.

  • Just the Notes label Inbox, Sent, Spam, contacts, calendar — none of it. Jodd's queries are scoped to one Gmail label and its sub-labels.
  • Nothing leaves your device Notes are cached in a local database on your computer. There's no Jodd server — never has been.
  • Trash, never delete Deleting a note in Jodd moves it to Gmail's own Trash — recoverable exactly like deleting from gmail.com.
  • Revoke it in one click Remove Jodd's access anytime from your Google Account permissions page — no email to us required.

Read, insert, and label messages — that's it. Jodd never sends email as you, and never touches anything outside your Notes label.

What else it does

Everything you'd expect from a real notes app, none of it changing what Jodd is allowed to touch.

Folders & tags Gmail labels become folders; inline #hashtags become filterable tags.
Full-text search Across every account, including Thai — trigram search finds substrings, not just whole words.
Checklists & attachments Nested checkboxes that roll up, images and files that round-trip both ways.
Wikilinks & backlinks [[note title]] links between notes, with a graph view of how they connect.
Ask Jodd Chat with your own notes to find what you're looking for — every answer cites the exact notes it came from.
Recently Deleted A real trash view — nothing vanishes without a chance to undo it.
